What Is 5G? How a New Wireless Tech Will Change the World

A reliable internet connection is described as fast and secure. Imagine playing your favorite online shooter games such as Fortnite without any internet lag. If you are an avid gamer, then a reliable internet connection is bound to give you better gaming experience. And that is where the 5G comes in; the latest generation internet connection is said it is going to change the world.

What is 5G?

If you peep at the corner of your phone, you will notice an indicator that says 4G, 3G, or 2G. The G stands for generation and depending on speed and reliability each G has had a specific purpose.  For instance, it all started with 1G that lets us talk to each other, 2G to text, 3G for internet, and 4G revamped the world. Then the introduction of 5G, which already has not been rolled out, is bound to make things better.

The 5th generation internet connection has been described as more faster, more reliable.  Currently, the 4G averages at 100 to 200 milliseconds but 5G is expected to average at one millisecond. The latency rate will not only help us download videos at a faster speed, but it is also going to change various Industries.

How will 5G change the world?

The fifth-generation internet is going to be rolled out in the next two years.  However, various Industries are already excited about it. Here is a look at many breakthroughs that will about due to 5G.

#1. Self-driving cars.

One of the main reasons why autonomous cars were introduced in the market was to reduce the rate of road accidents. However, on March 18, 2018, Elaine Herzberg was knocked down by a Volvo XC90 becoming the first fatality to be hit by an autonomous vehicle. The introduction of 5G is expected to become a breakthrough in the autonomous vehicle industry. Imagine if your car could communicate with other vehicles? This is what 5G is aiming at making happen. Cars which will be 5G equipped will be able to send data and communicate with one another within a millisecond. If this is deemed possible, then it could be the solution that we need to decrease the number of road accidents and end traffic congestion.

#2. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

One of the most significant technological advancement has been VR and AR. Both of these technologies are dependent on immersive bandwidth, and 5G could be what they need. For instance, in the gaming world, VR has changed the user experience for most gamers. The use of 5G with VR in some sports such as football will kick in real time. For instance, a football player can use a camera to showcase his point of view to users who are using  VR gear. On the other hand, 5G will change the number of real-time digital information from AR.

It’s just a year or two before we will see the 5G revolution. Are you ready for it yet?
